Situationship Tips: How to walk out of a toxic situationship | – Times of India

Walking out of any relationship can be hard, even if it is casual or complicated. You tend to get attached to the person you have been talking to regularly. It’s normal for you to expect a text from them, or enquire about your schedule, as they are a part of your routine. However, it’s important to realise when things are turning toxic, even when this change may hurt you emotionally at first. If they are not investing anything in this relationship or showing no effort to sustain it, it’s time to walk out.
In case of situationship, things can get even more uncertain as there is no commitment. Such an arrangement can get frustrating after a while for at least one partner who wants more out of the relationship but may not be vocal about it for fear of ruining the bond. However, it’s important to take charge of your mental health and if it’s taking a toll, you need to walk out of a situationship.
Here are simple ways to walk out of a toxic situationship:

1. Maintain distance

If your situationship is no longer just fun and is giving you a hard time, it’s time to reconsider whether or not you want to be in such an arrangement where the other person is not giving you enough attention, making excuses, and manipulating you. It is important to start creating distance with them and avoid calling or texting them.

2. Don’t be delusional

As much as you want this person to be in your life, you have to stop being delusional. You need to assess your feelings and convince yourself about the right step. Once you acknowledge your feelings, taking action would be easier.

3. Always set boundaries

You should always create boundaries that your partner never crosses. It is very crucial in every relationship, especially in a situationship where chances of hurt are more. Setting boundaries will help you recover from any setback easily.

4. Remove them from your social media

You can never get over a person if you are still watching their Instagram stories or snaps. Once you have made up your mind, set boundaries, and start creating distance. The next step should be removing them from your social media, a clear sign that you are not interested and don’t want to be in contact.

5. Stick to your decision

When you walk out of any relationship, it’s normal to remember little things or moments you shared with your partner. It’s normal to think about them, but going back to them is not. Stick to your decision and don’t reach out to them in a weak moment.
