Alia Bhatt: Is society’s judgment on Botox going out of control? Alia Bhatt lashes out; health impacts and more | – Times of India

Botox has always been seen under a lens of hatred. The perception towards botox is the exact opposite of what it does, which is cosmetic procedure. Wrong information, myths, prejudices overshadow the actual benefits botox procedure offers.
Recently, Alia Bhatt was targeted for having botox treatment. While no update was given by the actor herself, her facial features, the way she spoke at certain events made her a subject of ridicule.Taking to social media platform Instagram, Alia wrote: “Absolutely NO JUDGEMENT towards anyone who chooses cosmetic corrections or surgery-your body, your choice. But wow, this is beyond ridiculous! To the random video floating around literally claiming I’ve had Botox gone wrong (and to the numerous clickbait articles) – I have a “crooked smile” and a “weird way of speaking,” according to YOU. This is your hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face. And now you’re confidently tossing around “scientific” explanations, claiming I’m paralysed on one side? Are you kidding me? These are SERIOUS claims being casually thrown out there with zero proof, no confirmation, and absolutely nothing to back it up.”
In the long post, Alia has spoken about objectification, unrealistic standards and the damaging effects of such judgments.

Botox, derived from botulinum toxin, has been a popular cosmetic treatment for reducing wrinkles and fine lines, yet it is often viewed negatively due to several factors. One main reason is the association with an unnatural or “frozen” appearance that can result from overuse or improperly administered injections, leading to a loss of facial expressiveness. This has contributed to a stereotype of Botox as a superficial, “quick-fix” solution used in the pursuit of unrealistic beauty standards.
Botox treatments can sometimes be perceived as a reflection of self-image issues or an excessive focus on physical appearance, which can perpetuate societal pressures, especially on women, to look perpetually youthful.

What exactly should one know about botox and its health implications?

Botox has gained widespread use not only as a cosmetic treatment but also for various medical purposes, making it a versatile and often beneficial option. Cosmetically, Botox gives a smoother, fresher look by reducing wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions or aging like the frown lines. It does so by temporarily relaxing a particular muscle. This effectively softens signs of aging.
Besides aesthetics, Botox has various therapeutic applications amongst which are chronic migraine, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), muscle spasms, and some types of urinary incontinence dysfunction. To those suffering from such conditions, Botox may provide comfort and improvement in their quality of life. Users can discontinue using Botox because it’s a temporary measure; the effect usually lasts for 3-4 months.
Botox treatments are generally quick; they are very minimal, allowing for little, if any, downtime. Botox is safe and effective under the care of certified professionals, and its dual life as a cosmetic and a medical substance demonstrates much excellent potential. A safe, temporary, and individualized approach makes Botox a great option for many individuals seeking a whole range of improvements.
