Dogs are often celebrated as humans’ best friends, a title earned through their unwavering loyalty, affection, and instinctive bond with people. But as beautiful their relationship with humans is, they also form quite a bond with their kind. In households with multiple pets, dogs often form unique relationships with one another. This level of empathy and intuitive understanding, seems to transcend language.Such connections are especially moving when one dog steps up to care for a companion who faces challenges, such as blindness, mobility issues, or hearing loss. One such example is of Maisy and Levi, who share a beautiful connection. Looking out for his deaf brother and helping him stay connected to the household’s rhythms.

In a video that has gone viral on the internet, a Golden retriever dog can be seen waking a sleeping Australian shepherd. While the video is itself adorable, the story behind is much more heartwarming. Maisy the golden retriever is younger than her brother Levi, she has taken over the role of taking care of her brother.
The clip, which has 16 million views on Tik Tok, shows a bot of this bond. Apparently, Maisy wakes up her brother to alert him that their parents have come back home. Levi is a deaf dog, but that does not mean that he will stay unaware that their parents have arrived. Maisy has taken this responsibility, amongst other things. Each day, Maisy makes sure that Levi stays connected to the household rhythm, never leaving him alone for long.
Their parents, Sierra and Josh Justus, talked to the ‘People’ and described the two as inseparable. They adopted Levi in September 2021, and then got Maisy in April 2022. The couple first saw Maisy alerting like that in 2022, and since then this has become a little tradition between the two.

Maisy’s kindness extends further as she even comforts Levi, when he feels anxious, by resting her head on his neck. Silently showing him that she is there for him. And Levi pays back by sharing his toys with Maisy. They love to take care of each other, and also enjoy traveling together and hiking on trails, as per Sierra and Josh.
