Chicago resident slams mayor, calls out city’s illegal immigration ‘Ponzi scheme’: ‘Gotten out of hand’

While President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration prepares to crack down on illegal immigration, Chicago residents are reeling under the weight of the Windy City’s migrant crisis.

One resident took aim at Mayor Brandon Johnson over the city’s illegal immigration “Ponzi scheme.”

“[Johnson] should be convicted of treason. We are dealing with a mayor who is a democratic socialist, and he’s bringing an agenda to Chicago that’s just not going to work. And it is an agenda of illegal immigration that has gotten out of hand since last year,” Chicago resident Zoe Leigh said on “The Evening Edit” Friday.

“We are $1.2 billion in the deficit because of this illegal immigration scam. I call it a Ponzi scheme.”

Along with other blue sanctuary cities like New York City and Denver, Chicago has had an influx of migrants over recent years.

Fox News data indicated the Windy City has spent $574.5 million on migrants, joining the likes of other Blue strongholds like New York City, Boston and Denver, that have forked out massive sums of money.

Mayor Johnson, who has vowed to resist President-elect Trump’s deportation of illegal immigrants, is also trying to overcome a $1 billion budget shortfall by the end of the year.

“It’s gotten out of hand,” Leigh said. “Chicago pushed back very fast, especially the South side and the west side of Chicago because of all of the money that was stolen because of the immigration scam. They thought that they were going to be able to put the illegal immigrants in our communities and we were going to allow that.”

“Now they’re all over the place because they don’t have any money to cover this situation or dismiss this in Chicago.”

Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, has been a staunch champion of the administration’s immigration policies. The former acting ICE director even sent a warning to Chicago, a city Homan claims will be one of the first to see deportations.

“Chicago is in trouble because your mayor sucks and your governor sucks. And we’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois,” Homan said during an event Thursday.

“Now, if your Chicago mayor doesn’t want to help, he can step aside. But if he impedes us, if he knowingly harbors or conceals an illegal alien, I will prosecute him,” he threatened.
