The news of ace cricketer Hardik Pandya and model-actress Natasa Stankovic’s divorce came as a shock in 2024. And now, just as we step into 2025, rumours are rife that Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma too might be heading for divorce. The reason: their fans have noticed that both Yuzvendra and Dhanashree have unfollowed each other on Instagram; Yuzvendra has also deleted all but one picture of him with Dhanashree, which has added more fuel to the fire.
Moreover, a source close to the couple has also said that the news of their separation is true, and they might even head for a divorce. The source told The Times of India, “The divorce is inevitable, and it’s only a matter of time before it becomes official.” The source further shared that while the main reason for their divorce is not yet disclosed. “The exact reasons for their separation are not known yet, but it’s clear that the couple has decide to move on with their lives separately,” said the source.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma got married in 2020 and their wedding came as a surprise to many. While Yuzi, as Yuzvendra is fondly called, is an ace Indian cricketer, his wife Dhanashree is a choreographer. She describes herself as an “actor, performer, doctor” on her social media account.
When Yuzi met Dhanashree
For the unversed, Dhanashree was a participant in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 in 2024. In the show, when the hosts Gauahar Khan and Rithvik Dhanjani asked Dhanashree about her love story with Yuzi, Dhanashree shared that it she used to teach dance to Yuzi and that’s how love blossomed between them.
Sharing their love story, Dhanashree had said, “During the COVID-19 lockdown no matches were happening and all the cricketers were sitting at home and getting frustrated. That’s when Yuzi decided to learn dance. He had seen my dance videos on social media and back in the day, I used to teach dance. So he approached me to be my student. I agreed to teach him.” And the rest, as they say, is history.
Announcing their union, Yuzi and Dhanashree shared their beautiful wedding pictures on December 22, 2020, on social media which had created much buzz back then.

While rumours are rife about trouble in Yuzi and Dhanashree’s paradise, this is not the first time that such news is doing the rounds.
It is noted that back in 2023 too, there were speculations of Yuzi and Dhanashree’s troubled marriage when the latter had dropped Yuzi’s surname, Chahal, from her Instagram profile. Since then, Dhanashree has been using her maiden name. Also, Yuzi had posted a statement on his Instagram story putting the rumours to end in 2023.
Meanwhile, now that their divorce rumours are rife again, both Yuzi and Dhanashree have refrained from commenting on it.
