Amid dating rumours with Barack Obama, a look at Jennifer Aniston’s relationship history | – The Times of India

Former First Lady Michelle Obama‘s absence at Donald Trump‘s inauguration has reignited rumours of her husband former President Barack Obama dating Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston.
While Mrs. Obama’s absence could be a political and personal choice, speculations about troubles in her marriage have fuelled gossip.
It all started when a leaked direct message (DM) on social media hinted at the potential relationship between Barack Obama and Jennifer Aniston. The DM was from a person from Aniston’s inner circle, and it read, He’s with Jennifer Aniston. My old manager, now a friend, is connected to her inner circle. At a gathering with Jennifer’s friends, the affair came up casually – Jennifer herself admitted it.” Though neither Obama nor Aniston made any official statements, the rumour spread like wildfire. It gained more traction when InTouch Magazine did a cover story on the rumour, ‘The Truth About Jen & Barack!’ last year. However, while appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show, Jennifer Aniston dismissed the rumours. “That is absolutely untrue. Of all the calls you get from your publicist, where you’re just like, ‘Oh, no, what’s it gonna be?’ or the email saying, you know, some cheesy tabloid is gonna make up a story, and then it’s that. I was not mad at it. I’ve met him [Obama] once. I know Michelle more than him,” Aniston said, brushing off the rumors with humour. It all started when the two briefly met in 2007.
Despite Aniston dismissing the rumour, the gossip of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s marriage being on the rocks continued to circulate. The former First Lady’s absence at President Trump’s swearing-in ceremony has only fueled it further.
Jennifer Aniston’s love life has been quite eventful, and this is probably the best time to take a look back at her famous dating history!
Charlie Schlatter
Back in 1990, when Jennifer Aniston was starring on NBC’s Ferris Bueller, a sitcom inspired by Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, she had a brief romantic relationship with her on-screen sibling Ferris Bueller, played by Charlie Schlatter.
Daniel McDonald
While Aniston was at the peak of her Friends success, she was in a relationship with Daniel McDonald. They dated from 1990 to 1995. “He was my first love — five years we were together. He would have been the one. But I was 25, and I was stupid. He must have sent me Justin [Theroux] to make up for it all,” Jennifer Aniston told The New York Times in 2015. McDonald died from brain cancer in 2007.
Adam Duritz
Jennifer Aniston met the Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz via mutual friends and they dated briefly.
“A bunch of my friends lied to me and told me she had a crush on me. And those same friends lied to her and told her I had a crush on her. I honestly had no idea who she was. She was nice, really funny, really pretty. Those are pretty good requirements for me and also she liked me. It didn’t last very long, but she’s a nice girl,” Duritz said in an interview in 2021.
Tate Donovan
In 1995, Aniston started dating actor Tate Donovan, who was fresh out of a relationship with Sandra Bullock. Though the relationship went on for two years, they split in 1998, and interestingly he was cast as her love interest in Friends, in which she played Rachel Green. Talking to the US Weekly in 2018, Donovan said, “It was just six episodes. I mean, only because we were breaking up. We were like, ‘Hey, can we not keep doing this? ’Cause this is really painful and tough.”
Brad Pitt
The most talked about relationship of all time. Jennifer Aniston met Brad Pitt via their managers in 1994, but they started dating only in 1998. The couple made their red carpet debut at the 51st Emmy Awards and also announced their engagement in November of that year. They exchanged vows and married at a lavish wedding in July 2000. Later in 2001, Pitt also made a guest appearance in Friends.
In 2004, Aniston expressed that she was ready to have children with Pitt, however, around the same time, rumours of his relationship with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie too broke out.
In Jan. 2005, after almost five years of marriage, they announced divorce. “We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration. We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another. We ask in advance for your kindness and sensitivity in the coming months,” they said in a statement.
Vince Vaughn
In the summer of 2005, Aniston was seen together with her The Break-Up costar Vince Vaughn. The relationship didn’t work out and they split in 2006. However, in 2008, Aniston told Vogue, “I call Vince my defibrillator. He literally brought me back to life. My first gasp of air was a big laugh! It was great. I love him. He’s a bull in a china shop. He was lovely and fun and perfect for the time we had together. And I needed that. And it sort of ran its course.”
John Mayer
Jennifer Aniston met singer John Mayer in 2008, and dated on and off for a year. “I ended a relationship to be alone because I don’t want to waste somebody’s time if something’s not right,” the singer told the reporters during the split. In a 2008 Vogue interview, Aniston said, “It’s funny when you hit a place in a relationship and you both realize, we maybe need to do something else, but you still really, really love each other. It’s painful. I deeply, deeply care about him; we talk, we adore one another. And that’s where it is.”

Justin Theroux
Aniston started dating her friend and co-star Justin Theroux in 2010, after meeting him in 2007. In a whirlwind romance, they even moved in together in 2011. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2015.
However, in 2018, the couple called it quits. In a joint statement, they announced their divorce and said, “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.” They continue to stay as friends.
